"Pollinate: Orange Mint Moth" is an original watercolor painting by Victoria K. Chapman. This delightfully colorful series of paintings called "Pollinate" features 7 different critters who are native or naturalized to New England in the United States and pollinate our flowers and trees. These beneficial birds and insects are an integral part of the native ecosystem and our agricultural systems. This series pays homage to these tiny wonders and their environments.
"Pollinate: Orange Mint Moth" depicts one of the lesser-known pollinators of the New England region. The Orange Mint Moth is a very tiny orange and brown moth who thrives on the flowers of mint family plants. It is thought that the larvae feeding on mint leaves may actually help with leaf and oil production of mint plants. In this painting, the little moth is found on a wild mountain mint plant, which has unique sparse flowers with rigid pointed leaves in a light green color. Mountain Mint is a great plant to add to your garden to attract a wide variety of pollinators, including the Orange Mint Moth.
For each sale from this series, the artist will donate 10% of proceeds to a local environmental charity of the artist's choice (eg: Greater Worcester Land Trust or Kestrel Land Trust).
