"Pollinate: Black Swallowtail Butterfly" is an original watercolor painting by Victoria K. Chapman. This delightfully colorful series of paintings called "Pollinate" features 7 different critters who are native or naturalized to New England in the United States and pollinate our flowers and trees. These beneficial birds and insects are an integral part of the native ecosystem and our agricultural systems. This series pays homage to these tiny wonders and their environments.

"Pollinate: Black Swallowtail Butterfly" depicts another favorite butterfly from the New England region among some wildflowers in meadow near the hills. The Black Swallowtail butterfly is another important insect pollinator. Their favorite plants include those in the carrot family, such as Queen Anne's Lace, shown in this painting. Their caterpillars feed on these plants, which also include dill and parsley. Want to attract Black Swallowtails to your garden? Add carrots, parsley, or dill! Also in the meadow are red clover flowers, another favorite among butterflies. If you see it growing in your yard, leave it for your pollinator friends.

For each sale from this series, the artist will donate 10% of proceeds to a local environmental charity of the artist's choice (eg: Greater Worcester Land Trust or Kestrel Land Trust).
