In this workshop, participants will explore combining mindfulness and meditation with drawing. The workshop will start with a short grounding meditation and a group discussion of what mindfulness is and how it can relate to creating art. We’ll explore the gardens together so each participant finds a plant they want to get to know and draw.
Drawing will include several phases, starting with short gesture drawings and then moving into more detailed drawings. We’ll start each drawing session with a short guided mediation and we’ll end each session with a bell and a breath to bring us back together. At the end, we’ll share our drawings and talk about the experience of being present with our plant subject and how it was to draw in a state of mindfulness.
Participants should bring their own materials (sketchbooks, drawing boards, pencils, pens, etc.). It is also recommended to bring something to sit on (a garden knee pad or portable chair) and wear comfortable clothes.
No experience required. Just enjoy yourselves! Ages 18+.
