"Pollinate: Rusty Patched Bumble Bee" is an original watercolor painting by Victoria K. Chapman. This delightfully colorful series of paintings called "Pollinate" features 7 different critters who are native or naturalized to New England in the United States and pollinate our flowers and trees. These beneficial birds and insects are an integral part of the native ecosystem and our agricultural systems. This series pays homage to these tiny wonders and their environments.
"Pollinate: Rusty Patched Bumble Bee" features the Rust Patched Bumble Bee, a species native to New England that is now endangered. Our fuzzy pollinating friend is seen on an echinacea purple cone flower, with bunches of wild blueberries on bushes in the background. Bumble bees are an important part of pollination in both wild and planted fruiting gardens. Echinacea is a native perennial that the bumble bee appreciates and loves and is a great addition to a pollinator-friendly garden.
For each sale from this series, the artist will donate 10% of proceeds to a local environmental charity of the artist's choice (eg: Greater Worcester Land Trust or Kestrel Land Trust).
