The northern long-eared bat is an endangered species of bat native to much of North America. They use those amazing ears to hear everything around them using echolocation since their eye sight is really terrible. But, they are great bug-catchers! Bats like this one help keep numbers of pesky bugs like mosquitos in check. Northern long-eared bats are protected under the Endangered Species Act due to their vulnerability to white nose disease.
