Created in honor of the spirit of mindfulness teacher and Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh, who passed away at the beginning of 2022. This piece was created with the essence of Thay's teachings in mind, being mindful of each stroke, and being present in the moment with the paint. The bird is the long-tailed sibia, a small bird native to Southeast Asia. Thich Nhat Hanh was originally from Vietnam, so a bird from that region was chosen to represent his spirit.

Thich Nhat Hanh's teachings and writing have influenced Victoria's life in many ways. She was lucky enough to see him speak in-person several years ago when he was visiting the U.S. Victoria wanted to create a piece to honor his positive impact in the world.
